Co-creating, Iterating and Prototyping a Design Framework for Regenerative Manufacturing and Design Communities

Chaired by:
Susan Evans, School of Design, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong
Luisa Huaccho Huatuco, School for Business and Society, University of York, UK

This 90-minute in-person workshop applies the Sustainable Circular Transformation SCT framework to address How can the SCT framework contribute to designing regenerative manufacturing for alternative, just, and equitable futures of sustainability? The workshop provides an opportunity for design and manufacturing researchers and practitioners to discuss, in an interactive manner, the different elements of the SCT framework and understand the potential ways in which regenerative manufacturing can influence the future of research, practice and policy.

Participants engage, through small groups, in co-designing techniques, prototype evolution, and participatory engagement to foster innovative dialogue, critical reflection and coproduction. Each small group builds towards the coproduction process, inviting different perspectives and inspiration for dialogue, critical reflection and shared understandings.

Feedback on the use, practicality of our People-Led Net Zero Legitimacy Cards

Chaired by:
Professor Linda Newnes, Jillian MacBryde and Dr Lattanzio, Universities of Bath and Strathclyde

Through our people-led research (https://www.people-led.org.uk/) we have created interactive legitimacy cards for the centre for people-led digitalisation (P-LD). These have been used for evaluating digitalisation projects to identify stakeholder views, insights and thoughts about the proposed digitalisation activity. Our focus is on the impact on the workforce and people. You can see some example case studies of our research outputs on our P-LD case studies page (https://www.people-led.org.uk/digitalisation/case-studies).

We are updating/translating these cards to have a means to assist in the decision making for Net Zero projects. The initial deck of cards will be created by end April 2026, and we would welcome the opportunity for feedback on what we have done via a workshop.

What is in it for participants?
The workshop will be interactive, based on a net zero scenario and the participants will be guided on how to use the cards, they can then use the cards and provide feedback on their value, what works well, what could be improved etc.

  • Participants will be provided access to a set of cards for their use, enabling them the opportunity to use our cards to assist with decision making and transitions.
  • Participants will be introduced to our people-led work and in particular gain insights onto what people-led is and how they can work with us.
  • A fun workshop - this will be minimal PowerPoint and more action/fun with the participants.
